a little bit of lagom

LISTEN

  • You may remember the podcast episode I recorded for A Little Bit of Lagom in November. Well, Marla is still killing it with incredible guests and wonderful interviewing. I listened to her episode with Heizal Nagginda recently, Climate Operation: Educating and Connecting, and loved it. Heizal is the founder of a youth-led Ugandan organization and I enjoyed hearing how she is organizing, as well as some of the challenges she’s faced in educating Ugandans about the climate crisis. One challenge that stuck out to me was how the lack of internet access impacts how climate news spreads in the country. Listen to find out how she still is able to educate people about climate change.

WATCH

  • Last month, I took a one-second video every day and then stitched them together to create a 30-second video at the end of the month. I got the idea from someone on TikTok and it looked like such a cute mini time capsule. One thing I discovered that was when you commit to taking a one-second video every day, then you look forward to each day. Go figure! It was nice to look back on mine and remember April. You should try it!

neem oil

SMELL

  • Okay, so this recommendation does not smell good, but I still think you may find it handy. I purchased some Neem oil over the weekend because it looked like one of my plants has tiny spider webs on it. (Spider mites are not welcome in my apartment) I wish someone had told me how badly it smelled! Whew! I had to open a window. The good news is that my plant’s leaves look shiny and happy today. Another couple of plants had some gnats and I sprayed the Neem oil solution on them and they disappeared almost immediately. Win. Home Depot was completely out when I went by on Sunday, but I did find plenty at The Sill.

TASTE

  • I made another TikTok recipe! This one was Ahi Tuna Crispy Rice Cakes, but I made mine with poke-grade salmon I had in my fridge from a meal subscription box. It was so delicious! And easy! Plus, it looks so fancy once you stack it all together. If you like sushi, add this recipe to your rotation this week.

in joy,
