How would you feel if I told you America is running out of water? Sounds unreal, right? Unfortunately, it’s true. In partner content written for National Geographic, Jon Heggie breaks down how climate change is straining this country’s water supply. The end of the article mentions personal steps consumers can take to reduce their water consumption, and those are great tips, but I want to remind you that 100 companies are responsible for 71% of the Earth’s greenhouse gas emissions.
“Along with decreasing rainfall comes rising temperatures. By 2050 the U.S. could be as much as 5.7°F warmer, and extreme weather events, such as heatwaves and drought, could be more intense and occur more frequently. As temperatures warm, evaporation increases, further decreasing water in lakes, reservoirs, and rivers. For example, every degree of warming in the Salt Lake City region could drop the annual water flow of surrounding streams by as much as 6.5 percent—for cities in the western U.S. that rely on cool temperatures to generate snow and rain, warmer weather is bad news.”
LISTEN
Over the last two or three years, I’ve been on an interesting journey of deconstructing and reconstructing my personal faith and relationship with Christianity after five years spent as a volunteer leader at one of the largest (if not the largest) megachurches. It’s been a hard, strange road, but the really good news is that I’m not on it by myself. I've come across several accounts online that have experienced similar things to me, and one such account is Dirty Rotten Church Kids. I listened to their podcast episode with Jo Luehmann, Who Christianity Belongs To, and it was incredibly affirming. Any summary I try to do will fall short, but you have to add it to your must-listen list for the week.

I’VE FOUND AN EXCELLENT ONLINE KICKBOXING INSTRUCTOR. I’m not sorry about the yelling, because that’s just how excited I feel. Kickboxing is one of those things that God sprinkled into a bowl when he was mixing me up and it’s been too long since I’ve been in a studio or found a really excellent online instructor. But, the drought is over! Christa DiPaolo created a knockout (see what I did there?) set of online classes and founded a brand called Boxing & Bubbles. Get into it this week! She even has a Youtube channel with several workouts completely free.
SMELL
It’s nearly summer and that means it’s nearly prime lemonade season! I am a sucker for all kinds of lemonade, so this Raspberry Lemonade candle from Caitelle was a no-brainer. The scent is light when burned, but it’s still a delicious and beautiful way to usher in the warm months. Next up, I’m eyeing this another Saturday morning (Fruity Pebble scented) candle from SineQuaNonCandleCo. Yum!
in joy,
