Hey,

I’m Jasmine Harrison (she/her)! Not only do I wrangle people and processes into solar systems that work nearly as well as our own, but I also ascribe to do it all with a healthy dose of humor and genuine relationship building. At the end of the day, I like to check everything off of that day’s to-do list, but not more than I want everyone I work with to feel good about the work we’re doing.

I’m currently the manager of an alumni network of over 1,500 U.S. climate professionals for an environmental nonprofit. Although there was a bit of an adjustment coming from working in fashion for years in design and brand support roles, the ingredients are much the same. How can we design a process that works well to create a product that addresses our needs?

I was born in Virginia Beach (hometown of other heavy hitters you may be familiar with like Pharrell. Missy Elliot is also from the same region so I guess you can say there’s something in the water), but I spent much of my early years living abroad. I’ve been fortunate enough to spend most of my summers up until the age of 21 abroad and it’s greatly impacted my perspective. From fresh seafood markets in Bangkok to ice skating in Bern to safaris in Nairobi, my exposure has given me an appreciation for the differences and similarities of our global community.

Connection has been the emergent theme of my personal and professional life. What keeps me up at night is, “how do we use the momentum surrounding important causes around the world, like the environment and climate change, to connect people who care to organizations doing good?” I plan to spend the rest of my life trying to bridge this gap.

In the evenings you can find me working out, crocheting, visiting trees, or burning incense and listening to Sade.

-Jasmine

 Core Values

01

Value 1

How something gets done matters just as much as what gets done.

I currently work as a co-director of a national environmental leadership network of 70+ organizations across 9 different sectors. I spend my days drafting network policy documents, streamlining existing work flows, planning meetings, dreaming up creative solutions to bring CEOs together for collaboration, researching venues, and drafting grant proposals. However, I’ve quickly learned that project management often feels less like project management and more like people management. I believe that people are the what and processes are the vehicle.

02

Value 2

Creativity isn’t just for art, it’s the best way to approach solutions.

My background is evenly split between organization and creating art, so when I shifted my career to work in the environmental nonprofit space I approached it differently. I come to the table with a lens of (a) ‘can this be beautiful and responsive/helpful/necessary’ and (b) ‘if this thing we’re doing is not working then why are we still doing it?’ I value creative disruption in the search for solutions.

03

Value 3

Rest is not dessert, it’s the vegetables on the plate of life.

For a long time I felt like I had to be constantly busy and constantly doing something. If I wasn’t doing something (anything) I was wasting my time and wasting time is irresponsible. Thankfully, I learned better after being burned out too many times and needing years to recover. I get it. You get it. Tasks have to get done and I love to cross things off of my to-do list. However, I’m only at my best, most creative, most organized, most gracious, most efficient and most lit up when I prioritize rest. Rest is not doing nothing; rest is the something.
