3 ways to give back during the holidays | 2020

happy holidays, friends!

can you believe that 2020 is finally coming to a close? I read someone’s comment on Twitter today about how the weeks this year have seemed to drag on, but the months have flown by and I cannot agree more with that sentiment. although so many of the pressing issues we’ve faced as a global community won’t automatically go away when the clocks tick over to 2021, I’m still looking forward to a new year.

one of my favorite parts of the holidays is the opportunity for giving — to family, friends, and my community (both local and global). after the toughness (understatement) of this year, I have been striving to find even more ways to give and support others because endurance is a community endeavor. we can go further together than on our own.

I’ve found three ways for you to consider giving back during this season — please let me know in the comments if there are any other organizations you’re going to support this holiday season!

  1. USPS Operation Santa - December 19th deadline

    • From their website: “Spread joy by adopting letters from individuals or families.” The steps are simple:

      • Step one: Look through letters and adopt ones you love.

      • Step two: Find the perfect gift, and keep it anonymous—it's from Santa, after all.

      • Step three: Prep and pack your gifts using the shipping guidelines.

      • Step four: Bring your gift to a participating Post Office™ by December 19.

  2. Feeding America

    • From their website: “Due to the coronavirus pandemic, 50 million people may face hunger in the U.S. during 2020 — including more than 17 million children.” Through their website, you can find your local food bank and donate and/or volunteer your time.

  3. Toys for Tots

    • This year you can donate money or shop their Virtual Toy Box amongst other donation options. Toys for Tots gets a toy in the hands of less fortunate children during the holiday season.

do you have any giving traditions or will you begin a new one this year?

in great joy,
