The Nudge App Review: Cherry Blossoms in NYC
The cherry blossoms are blooming in New York City! Thanks to The Nudge app, I headed out for an adventure…
First up, I hopped on the subway down to the Upper West Side where my first stop of my itinerary was a restaurant to grab coffee and something for breakfast.
I’ve been itching to get out of the house (like many of us) and also looking for activities that felt relatively safe without costing a lot of money. One of my favorite places in the city is the Jackie O. Reservoir and when I used to live in New York City several years ago, this was my running spot. It’s been packed lately and I’m trying to create new memories since I’ve moved back, so I haven’t been running around it, but I still love to visit. It’s a beautiful place for a walk, so this itinerary from The Nudge was just my speed.
Peacefood Cafe is a vegan restaurant several avenues away from Central Park. They have a number of delicious looking baked goods, beverages (seems like they have a great tea menu!), and more substantial food if you’re looking for a full meal. I grabbed a coffee and cinnamon roll because it was Saturday morning and being decadent only seemed right.
I took my coffee and cinnamon bun to go and headed over to Central Park. Even though it was windy and a bit chilly, I wanted to eat outside and soak up some of the sun after a gloomy New York February.
Next, I made my way to the Park’s 86th Street entrance on the west side to head to the reservoir. Before admiring the cherry blossoms, I stood by the reservoir and soaked up the sun and energy of the park. There were so many people walking their dogs, running, or just standing by the reservoir and listening to a nearby band and it reminded me so much of why I love this city.
Then, finally, it was over to the main event! Even though there weren’t a lot of cherry blossom trees, they still looked gorgeous. I offered to take a photo for a family of four because taking photos for tourists is one of my favorite ways to extend kindness. I took a bunch of pictures…
…and someone even offered to take some photos of me in front of them.
My overall review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐! There was another item on the itinerary for lunch at a nearby Italian restaurant that I skipped, but I’m sure it was delicious. The biggest pros for me were that this was an outdoor activity, didn’t cost a lot of money, and was completely planned for me. As a project manager, I spend most of my days planning and organizing to the nth degree. In my free time, I’m beginning to really enjoy letting someone else take the reins! The only con I have is that the itinerary didn’t instruct me on which entrance to enter Central Park to best see the cherry blossoms, but I luckily saw someone else online mention the best part of the reservoir to view them.
I would definitely recommend that you look to see if The Nudge is in your city and consider following one of their itineraries!
in sunshine,
