Sunday Brunch Round-up | March 14-20
This week’s feast for your senses.
READ
I wrote a piece this week on the compounded isolation of the pandemic and racism as a Black woman. In it, I detail how the interview Meghan Markle gave to Oprah reminded me of how deep isolation and loneliness can be and what it’s like to suddenly find yourself needing help in a way that you’re not used to. I would love it if you would give it a read.
LISTEN
Rather than recommend something to listen to, as spring cleaning is around the corner I wanted to remind you to not stream Anita Baker’s music on streaming platforms. She’s currently fighting for the masters for her songs and has asked fans to not stream her music at this time. I’ll have some other spring cleaning music recs next week!
WATCH
The Women’s Outdoor Summit hosted an incredible online event last weekend. You can view the schedule and then going over to their YouTube channel to watch the actual event. I think my favorite parts were the roundtables and the closing remarks by Dr. Carolyn Finney.
SMELL
I’m still burning through candles like you would not believe. It’s something about the ritual of having one burning in the bathroom once the sun sets and one burning in the living room. I’m on the last few candles I have in the apartment (remember when I said I had too many…yeah) and I’m really enjoying the Rattan scented candle from Hearth & Hand™ with Magnolia. It’s described as having, “bright lemon, wood moss, vetiver, wood, and aromatic green.” I’m looking for small businesses to support, so please comment and let me know if there are any companies I should check out in order to restock.
TASTE
I have had the hugest craving for cinnamon rolls for weeks now. I was going to bake some yesterday, but I haven’t yet purchased a cookie sheet. Instead, I ordered a couple from Demitasse Coffee Tea and they did not disappoint!
in joy,
