  • When Naomi Osaka decided not to do press and then pull out of the French Open all together to protect her mental health, I was so happy for her. In TIME, she details that experience in Naomi Osaka: 'It's O.K. Not to Be O.K.'. It’s past time for us to not only recognize, but respect the mental health of athletes and entertainers. Our entertainment shouldn’t come at the expense of anyone else’s mental health.

    • “Lesson one: you can never please everyone. The world is as divided now as I can remember in my short 23 years. Issues that are so obvious to me at face value, like wearing a mask in a pandemic or kneeling to show support for anti-racism, are ferociously contested. I mean, wow.”

WATCH

  • I absolutely love action and sc-fi movies and I feel like good ones have been hard to come by as of late. So, when I saw Chris Pratt was going to be in The Tomorrow War AND that it was streaming on a platform I already subscribe to, it was an easy choice for me to reach for last Saturday. Although I know I don’t agree with all of Chris Pratt’s politics, I met him a few years ago at church and he was nice and warm. He wasn’t pretentious and left me with a favorable impression of him. Let’s be honest, he’s good in this genre! I really enjoyed The Tomorrow War and I may watch it again if I get tired of the endless “what movie should I watch?” scroll.

LISTEN

  • A friend of mine recommended I check out the podcast The Happiness Lab. Usually, it’s really hard for me to find time for podcasts, but I had errands to run earlier today and decided to give it a try during my commute. I really enjoyed both episodes I listened to and would recommend them. Those episodes are Coach Yourself Through a Crisis and The Power of the Made-up Ritual. They’re particularly helpful as we’re still in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. I would add them to your “must listen” list for the coming week.
