This week’s feast for your senses.

READ

  • One great side effect of sustainable fashion being promoted more via social media is that influencers who are truly committed to sustainability are holding brands and themselves more accountable. It’s not enough to just have a sustainable product, it must be marked in a sustainable way as well. Vogue Business digs into this topic in-depth in, “How can fashion make marketing more sustainable?

    • ““Sustainable marketing is the marketing of sustainable products in a sustainable way,” says Nick Spensley, head of PR and marketing at UK-based sister brands Togetherband and Bottletop…No-holds-barred gifting has been criticised by sustainable marketers, who prefer to ask recipients in advance what they will use most and deliver gifts in compostable or recyclable packaging, offsetting the carbon emissions.”

  • Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day here in America. If you haven’t (ever or recently) read “Letters from Birmingham Jail,” I’d definitely encourage you to give it a read this weekend.

    • “Moreover, I am cognizant of the interrelatedness of all communities and states. I cannot sit idly by in Atlanta and not be concerned about what happens in Birmingham. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.”

WATCH

  • I’m getting so antsy being stuck in the house and I know I’m not alone. It’s been forcing me to be exceedingly creative in how I approach my free time and date nights. If you’re looking for an ~experience, then consider rewatching an old movie that you loved and doing an activity that matches the movie. One example? Maybe you rewatch Jaws and throw yourself an indoor picnic. Looking for an option that isn’t so food-centric? How about rewatching Jurassic Park and working on one of those cool dig kits. Sure, they’re marketed to children, but we all could use the comfort of nostalgia.

LISTEN

  • Looking for the perfect vibing music this long weekend as you’re reading, taking a bath, cleaning, or otherwise looking after yourself? You absolutely have to check out Nightmare on Wax’s “You Wish”. It’s the kind of instrumental that will make you happy and will lay a mellow vibe for whatever you have going on.

TASTE

  • I needed an easy dinner idea for this past Wednesday for date night and I had a feeling Trader Joe’s would have something “semi-homemade” (shout out Sandra Lee) that I cobble together. I ended up buying the gorgonzola gnocchi (recommended by an employee!), pancetta, mushrooms, and grated parmesan and asiago cheeses and that came together beautifully! It wasn’t quite as much food as we thought, so if you are making it for you and another person I’d consider adding in some sides like garlic bread and salad. Yum!

in joy,
