READ
A few weeks ago, I mentioned “The Happiness Lab” podcast and their episode on the importance of made-up rituals. It inspired me to create some rituals for my life and one of the rituals I wanted to create was in response to loss, but I felt a bit confused on how to tackle grief. Lauren Ruth Martin shared a post that I saw this week on “Ways to Grieve That Don’t Require Crying” and I immediately saved it. Give it a read if this is a topic you’ve struggled with. Some of her recommendations:
“Feel grief while showering and imagine the emotions going down the drain.
Write a memorial letter to who or what you are grieving.”
WATCH
Grace & Frankie is one of my favorite shows and I can’t help but binge-watch whenever a new season is released. Well, season 7’s first part just dropped over on Netflix! And yes, I’ve already finished watching it. I really enjoy the dynamic between Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin and it’s such a witty and enjoyable show. If you’re not on the Grace and Frankie train, now is the time to hop aboard!
LISTEN
Like many of us, I like to think of Brené Brown as a friend of mine. Do I know her personally? No. But still. In another life, we’d be great friends. After my epic 2-week long camper van road trip I have made a renewed vow to get outside more, especially on the weekends. So this past Friday, I decided to go for a long walk in Central Park and listen to Brené on FFTs, the first episode of her Unlocking Us with Brené Brown podcast over on Spotify. I don’t want to spoil what a “FFT” is, but I promise you it’s worth the listen!
TASTE
There were a few recipes I’d saved for my camping trip that we didn’t have a chance to make on the road, but one looked really good and I made it this week for my work lunches instead! Fresh off the Grid’s Sweet & Spicy Cashew Chicken Salad Wrap is so delicious and so easy to pull together. I love the crunch and fattiness that the cashews add to this alternative to a classic chicken salad. Let me know if you love it, too!
in joy,
