Last year, one of my colleagues wrote a powerful post sharing a sliver of what it’s like to be biracial and bisexual in the environmental space. It’s worth your time! The Look We Give by Lindi von Mutius
“There’s a look I get from black and biracial women. There’s a look I give black and biracial women. It’s a look of recognition that says: “I see you. You look like me. We share something no one else out here has. We’re the only ones like us out here.””
Feeling touch deprived? Check out this article from Allison Joyner on: How I am Dealing with Touch Starvation.
“DeAna Jo Vivian, a licensed professional counselor in Atlanta, explains that touch starvation is a growing by-product of this pandemic. In 2018, the U.S. Census Bureau reported that 37.5 million Americans lived alone, so the number of people suffering in silence could be more than anticipated. “In the real world, we are collective as species,” says Vivian, “so we need that human touch, that embrace. Our skin is the largest organ. It actually relays and transmits our senses and touch to our human brain.””

As Gay Pride month officially came to a close, listen to this powerful podcast from Jen Hatmaker and her daughter: A MOMENT OF PRIDE: JEN AND SYDNEY HATMAKER ON BEING GAY AND LOVED
“In honor of Pride Month, a mother and daughter come together to have a frank and beautiful conversation about what it’s like to grow up as the daughter of a popular Christian author and speaker and in a household steeped in the church . . . and realize you’re gay.”
SMELL
My cousin, Ursallie Smith, has more candles stocked in her shop, Rococo Design! The massage oil candles and the London candle are two of my favorites.
TASTE
Apparently pasta with vodka sauce is really popular to make right now and, as a highly suggestible lover of cheese and anything saucy, I recently made this Fusilli alla Vodka with Basil and Parmesan and cannot recommend it enough! I’d encourage you to splurge a bit, if you can, and get the fancier tomato paste and wedge or parmesan cheese to grate fresh. Mine was even topped with fresh basil from our garden. Yum!
in joy,
