  • Are you planning a picnic sometime soon? Then you absolutely need my 10 plastic-free picnic tips! It’s really important that we don’t beat ourselves up if we’re unable to achieve 100% plastic-free lifestyles, but I hope these tips help you on your way. A preview of a few of my favorites to consider:

    • Swap drinks in single-use plastic for canned drinks. These days, you can get pretty much any drink you’d want to take to your picnic in a can, both alcoholic and nonalcoholic.

    • Swing by a local bakery for fresh pastries (or other picnic favorites like empanadas) rather than buying them from a grocery store. A local bakery will likely have fresher pastries and more unique and seasonal flavor combinations.

    • Swap paper napkins or paper towels (both are usually packaged in plastic) for cloth napkins. I have great luck finding sets of cloth napkins at thrift stores and they’re also something I shop for when I’m traveling because they’re such a useful momento.

SMELL

  • I read online recently that an Airbnb host adds a few drops of essential oils in the kitchen sink to have it smelling fresh again. Mine was smelling this week and I added a few drops of peppermint and not only did it improve the scent of my sink, but my entire apartment also smelled fresher. Find the rest of the tips in 7 Brilliant Cleaning Tips to Steal from Airbnb Hosts.
